The card game
Each encounter is one hand of two-player Pitch/Setback, the North American bidding descendant of All Fours. You bid 2, 3, 4, or Smudge, choose trump with your opening lead, and play for High, Low, Jack, and Game. Spirits add curses that change how a hand works, and the curse is shown before you bid.
How a descent works
- Choose one of five Stakes and a starting rite.
- Face one spirit at each layer. Its curse is shown before you bid.
- Higher made bids restore Wick. A set-back costs the amount shown beside the wager.
- Draft charms between layers. Charms can alter scoring, soften a set-back, or change the cards you are dealt.
- Reach the final layer before Wick reaches zero.
Controller support
Gamepad controls cover the title screen, menus, bidding, card play, charm drafting, and settings. The game includes button prompts and in-game rebinding. Native builds are available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
